Lattice Diamond: Simulation
« on: May 29, 2018, 08:53:39 am »
I installed Diamond for the first time and I'm about to branch out from blink...

Does Diamond have simulation or is this something I need third party software to achieve? (I have Quartus II and this has simulation)

What is the best free route to add simulation to Diamond?  (Target is XO3)

Thanks in advance

If you are on Windows, Lattice Diamond comes bundled with ActiveHDL Lattice Edition.

If on Linux, Lattice Diamond does not have a simulator bundled. But you can use Icarus Verilog or Verilator (for Verilog), or ghdl (for VHDL) and point them to the Lattice simulation libraries. This way you will learn a free and platform independent simulator too.

Thanks. I went to the simulation wizard and it seems to work. Thanks!

FWIW I found this a useful video...
