Looking for BDI2000 ARM firmware
« on: May 10, 2018, 06:06:06 am »
Hey all - sorry if this isn't the appropriate section, I figured it's the closest I could find!

I desperately need the ARM firmware for the BDI2000 JTAG unit. I have a couple arm devices that need JTAG'ing in order to be unbricked. I purchased a BDI2000 on ebay however it's useless as it does not have the appropriate firmware on it.

I contacted Abatron but they went bankrupt and totally shut down, their site doesn't even exist anymore - so it seems this firmware (or any bdi2000 firmware) is unobtainable now  :(

Will be in huge debt to anyone who happens to have a copy lying around! I can send you the MPC85xx firmware in exchange if it could be of any use to you!

Here's the translated update procedure:

669/5000
Connect BDI to PC via serial cable (use null modem cable)
     Start configuration tool
The correct ".exe" can be found in the Device List
         for BDI2000: execute .exe → Setup → BDI2000
         for BDI3000: run .exe
Select desired interface (for example COM1) and speed (9600)
     Click Connect to connect
In the middle of the dialog window, the version currently available on the device (Loaded Version) will be displayed and the newest available (must be in the same directory as the .exe file).
With Update the old version will be deleted and automatically the newest will be loaded on the device.

Here's the original EOL announcement (via Archive.org), I think the owner just retired and closed shop.

Trust me, I really wish it were that easy. Those links are all to a private share server for that college and do not work outside of their campus :(

My bad, I've seen the "IE only" and thought that is a typical university page, for redemption tell me what firmware you want and I'll send them a mail.

I have an Abatron at work that is in storage - I can check if its accompanying CD has the firmware updater and.send it to you. That will not happen until Monday, though.

Oh, the "whys" of the datasheets... The information is there not to be an axiomatic truth, but instead each speck of data must be slowly inhaled while carefully performing a deep search inside oneself to find the true metaphysical sense...

I looked my pod for accompanying software CD to no avail - I suspect I have a brick here.

At any rate, did you contact these guys? They may still have something lingering around.

I did, they were less than helpful :P They informed me they did not acquire/take over IP rights for the bdi2000, and informed me I would need to buy a bdi3000 if I wanted an operational jtag pod  |O

Thanks for looking though! I found someone on ebay that has ALL the packages but won't send a single one because he thinks it's breaking the law (he doesn't seem to understand the IP rights for the firmware died with Abatron, it's ghostware now :( )

Too bad. Sorry to hear that. I also tried to do some internal searches here to no avail. If you know the exact filename, perhaps there is something missing in a FTP site around the globe. Otherwise, no joy.
