LVDS-eDP converter supply bypass
« on: May 09, 2016, 10:28:35 AM »
Hi,
Is that really important for NCS8801 to have supply bypassed with 16 caps and 6 inductors as shown in typical application?
That would take a lot of space on the board, which is pretty much limited.
Any suggestions other than trial and error?
Datasheet is here.

I wouldnt skip caps, those decoupling pins are there for a reason.
you could probably skip inductors, most chinese and amateurs do when using IT6251 (similar chip) and it works fine

interestingly cheaper version appears to have better filtering on all rails
