MIPI DSI Question (Pronunciation of)
« on: November 16, 2017, 06:10:33 am »
So, how is the MIPI DSI specification referred to in terms of pronunciation?
Is it "My Pie" or "Mippy"?  I want to avoid :-[ conversations like the first time you learned you were saying hysteresis and quiescent incorrectly.

I always used the "Mippy" version. Tho i would guess that everyone reads it differently just like I2C.

Perhaps the pronunciation should be part of the MIPI standard. If you pay the few grand to get access to the full spec you might as well also get to know how to say it. :-DD

"Mippy" is the common industry standard from my experience.

Never understood the fascination with pronouncing acronyms phonetically. I don't think I've heard someone call the CAI 'keeya' or ATM 'atom'.  And 'gooey' for GUI seems to be only used by those who don't develop them..

I've been developing GUIs for over 20 years I've very rarely heard anyone prononunce GUI any other way than "gooey" !    Maybe it's down to the locality?
