Music player
« on: December 13, 2016, 10:41:57 am »
Hi guys. Im not a programmer or an electronics guy, but im pretty handy with computers and such. I wonder. What would be best way to make a simple music player which would play everytime I enter the room. what I mean is, I would really like to make smooth jazz play when I open my front house door and turn on the light in the corridor.
Is it raspberry PI, arduino? Or maybe I can make my old android phone make to do that?

This comes under "Home Automation". If you google it you will find plenty of projects regarding this type of thing.
Best of luck with it.
Let us know how you go with it.

Raspberry pi would do the job pretty well because it is rather flexible. You can copy a lot of music to sd card, and use GPIO for detecting when the door is open.

You could use some python library for mp3 files, here are some advices http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20021457/playing-mp3-song-on-python

Raspberry pi is the best option for you. Also provides a lot of expansion options like access control.

Hi guys, thank you for the answers. Doing something in python and raspberry pi's was too complicated for me. So, I bought an old android phone for 10bucks, hooked the charger, set-up Tasker app to start playing music when it detects light and vuala. Thanks for the answers, and sorry for kind of a late reply :) Cheers
