I don't think I understand the question, if there is a question...

The Hammer icon usually causes a Build in the Eclipse platform.  The Hammer with the Wisk Broom probably does a Clean/Build.

Except for the one that is labeled Generate  in the upper left corner next to Project Resources. How many do you want?

Well that button with generate on it does not generate my code,
in the youtube movie there is a generate code button.


on exact 5:30 they click the generate code button

That video was published on Aug 7, 2015. Things change in 2 years, including MPLABX/MCC. I'm sure they have a user manual for MCC. It would be quite odd to have a big Generate button that does nothing.

I haven't used MCC in a long time, and have it uninstalled so can't help much more. I have a hard time following most Microchip code, including MCC generated code, so I just look at the datasheet and do my own thing.
