PIC18F26K22 No SPI Signal
« on: February 16, 2016, 03:27:48 pm »
Dear All,

I feel slightly embarrassed having to ask for help on another serial bus, but I have been trouble shooting this for hours to no yield. With your help I was able to establish communication between a 32mx and the nrf24 wireless module.

Now I am in the process of setting up the other transmitter which will consist of a pic18f26k22, mostly because I only have one pic32mx, the the 18f was laying around.

My issue is that I am not able to get the MSSP module to output data onto the pins. My function where I put the data into the buffer, poll the interrupt bit, and then read the buffer exits normally, but the data lines (as checke with my oscilloscope) stay low~!
I have simplified my code down to simply trying to spit out sequential numbers from the SPI, but my oscilloscope does not show anything on the lines, and the SSPBUF reads back empty, indicating that also no data was received.

Here is the code:

I think you're on the wrong pins.

You're using SSP1, for which the clock and data pins are RC3, RC4 and RC5.

The pins you're assigning - and, I presume, probing - are those associated with SSP2.

YOU ARE A SAVIOUR :)

I have been looking at the same code for 3 hours now! That's what happens when I am stressed...

Anyhow, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Nope, professional engineer. We've all made exactly the same mistake at least once!  :phew:
