It has pin8 as +5V and pin 10 as 0V. As per usual the top has been sanded off. None of the other pins are dedicated to any external xtal etc. My knowledge kind of leaves a bit to be desired within this area. The device's tasks seem fairly simple, monitoring humidity and temperature and switching a peltier module on when so required. There's the addressing of a couple of dual 7seg displays and user input is via 3 press buttons that pull that pin to 0V level.

The device seems to be 'running' on 5V but the amplitude of the 'scoped pulses are seriously low,  less than 2Vp-p and most with a +1.3Vdc potential. I fully realise just replacing the device won't be a fix but i'd love to be able to explain to the owner of the piece of kit this circuit inhabits what specially has died and how it may have occurred....

Here is the board. U2  is a 555 as per the Humirel relative humidity sensor HS11xx series marked CT1... Chip U1 has had it's top ground off....
