Power supply ICs for CPLD board designs
« on: September 04, 2017, 08:16:44 am »
Hi there,

I am looking for simple power supply ICs for a CPLD board design. Can anyone suggest ICs for 1.8v and 3.3v supply generation? I will be using a 5v adapter for supply generation.

Thanks and Regards,
Arvind Gupta

Depends on the target current. If it's just one CPLD, you'll probably not be drawing a lot of power, I'd even go with two cheap LDOs, stable with ceramic caps. Or you can go with dual LDO (two LDOs in one package), such as:

http://ams.com/eng/Products/Power-Management/LDOs/AS1374

Or, if you don't mind extra board space and need more efficiency, you can go for a dual switched DC DC converter. I've used the LT3509 and it worked well.
Believe it or not, pointy haired people do exist!
