Raspberry Pi Zero W

$10, now with added WIFI and BT. Other that that it's unchanged.

Well, I hope the availability will be changed and it will be a real product you can go into a shop and buy 10 or 100 of, not a "strictly one per customer" loss leader like the original Zero.

Not holding my breath.

The announcement states that the distributors will be the same as those for the original Pi Zero, not the 'big hitters' such as Farnell/Newark who manufacture and distribute the bigger Pi models. This suggests that it is again being funded by the Foundation rather than commercially, and manufacturing volumes will be limited by this.

On the other hand, one of the Raspberry Pi engineers mentions in the comments that they "should be available in much larger numbers".

That's actually quite useful now. The original zero was a pain because you had to hang a USB ethernet off it to be useful.

I'm going to be honest here and I feel like a dick now but it was easy money. I scooped up 20 copies of MagPi from my local Tesco and Sainsburys when the Zero came out and sold them on eBay for £30 each so the one per customer thing was a fallacy.

Edit: Got a postage notification 42 minutes after placing my order :)

Having now watched the video :-) They say they've made 80,000 so far (as at Feb 20), and are making 25,000 a week. That's got to be orders of magnitude more than the Zero has been made in.

I scooped up six and gave them at cover price to friends who couldn't find copies but I don't blame anyone who makes a profit.

I've got all the bits for the Zeroes I have so I'll wait a little while before ordering a Zero W, just a hint though, they're in stock at Pimoroni, Pihut and ModymyPi right now.

I hope that they could be in much larger volume (not like original Zero) - but judging from the price and the ICs on the board, it probably is indeed funded by the Foundation.

I ordered one from the PiHut yesterday. Only 5 GPD shipping to the US making the total less than Canakit the only US source that had them in stock.

I also ordered 2 (when i ordered, there didn't even seem to be a limit that you could only order 1 at a time).
I liked it that for once it seemed to properly be in stock at the time of announcement :).
