nice! Thanks for sharing.

I need one, so I think I'm going to build the Nokia 5110 display version that was posted by another user, as I already have a display waiting for a purpose.

User Russell on your comments section of your own blog posted a schematic for the ATmega328P DIP version with 5110 display, both of which I have on hand,

It doesn't support bootloader 1 wire optical interface, so it is useless in many real applications, where MPU comes flashed with tiny boot loader and only 1 wire is needed to reflash MPU with latest software update.

It is only gadget maybe good for mainstream "Beduino" - I meant Arduino fans  :-DD
For me it is useless-I use DIY AVR programmer in DAPA mode connected to LPT port of 128MB RAM DELL laptop  >:D  and.. it is fine to quickly flash AVR MPU with tiny boot loader-then use 1 wire to upgrade MPU software in circuit when needed
Messing with 6-10 pins on PCB just to reflash MPU... it is hopeless  :palm:

It would be awesome if
- It supported all the common bootloaders out there
- Could do high voltage parallel programming (for when you disable the reset pin)
- Had a 1mhz clock output (for when you stuff up the clock fuse bits)

3 would be simple, 1 would require a bit of coding and 2 would need extra hardware and probably make it larger

It is fully open source,  instead of complaining, add the modifications to hardware and software.
He designed and achieved his design goals and produced and shared his knowledge with the community.

It does have clock output.
It burn whatever bootloader or firmware you copy to the SDcard.
