« on: June 30, 2014, 01:07:01 am »
hy fellas,  ;D

recently i learnt microcontollers, avr type. i just bought avr kit and usb asp downloader. after saveral times downloading program to the microchip (atmega16), i had this error in pop up window : (i used avrdude downloader)  |O

avrdude.exe : error : program enable : target doesn't answer. 1

avrdude.exe : initialization failed, rc=-1

double check connection and try again, or use -F to overrride this check

i replaced the microchip but the error keeps coming again and again. somesaid the microchip had been locked accidentally, i didn't know how. other said it was already broken

does anyone of you guys ever had this kind of problem ? and how to solve it ?

Greetings!

I had similar porblem. If you're using cheap chinese usb asp, you're  probably having an USB ASP Firmware problem..
This error means that  programer cant communciate with the uC, Or the clock speed is to high( i had this problem with
ATMEGA 32 before burning new fuse bits to the uC ).  Try to update the Firmwere on the usbasp with the newest one and
I think that will solve the problem, unless you have the wrong fuse bits configuration on uC.

I hope this will help.
Best Regards. Matija
To Solder or not to solder, that is the question!

Make sure that the wiring is right, the you haven't disabled the rest pin.

obviously don't load the pins too much.

it is unlikely a firmware issue.
