Hey guys, I'm trying to repair my Toshiba laptop. I believe that the Winbond WPC8763LDG chip is partially fried. I have found a very cheap replacement here -->
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-WINBOND-WPC8763LDG-WPC8763-LDG-Chipset-graphic-IC-chip-/180815951085
My question is, do these chips have a programmable ROM? If they do what kind of chip reader would I need to read it and how would I go about that?
Any info and replies will be appreciated.

According the datasheet it only has 1K of on-board
ROM
. My guess is that this is a mask ROM containing a generic bootloader. Any machine-specific code would then be loaded from external Flash.
