Amazon
« on: July 16, 2010, 03:18:15 am »
You may have noticed I now have Amazon ads on my site, and a "Store" button where you can buy choice products from Amazon.
Obviously I get a commission on every sale, let's see how well it works.
So if you are thinking about buying anything at all through Amazon.com, I'd appreciate if you can use the Amazon link on my main page! ;)
Given that this isn't a pay-per-click system I think I'm allowed to say this and encourage you to buy through Amazon!

Thanks
Dave.

Had no idea I was using any sort of port, I just cut'n'paste the code Amazon give me.
I can't access a lot of stuff at work either, some silly commercial filter in place.

If I buy something from a third party Amazon seller, do you still get some
credit for that?  I tend to get a fair amount of stuff through Amazon, so
I'll make an effort to use your link.

Yes, I believe that's how it works, as long as the transaction goes through amazon.
Thanks for the support.

I tried to buy the art of electronics through your link but it is for america and they didn't suggest I go to the .co.uk website as I'm in the UK so I think you lost that one. any way around that ?

I can't see it on my earning report, so yeah, presumably a lost sale if you use another countries site.
Don't know if there is any way around that.
Some stuff takes time to show up too, so I'll see if it comes through.

To be honest I don't think you will get credit for it as i had to manually put in amazon.co.uk and just buy it that way as there was no other way. Your best bet is to use localized links, somehow you need to establish the country of the viewer and have the appropriate links appear so if a UK viewer loads the page links from amazon.co.uk are automatically loaded, if the viewer is from the US the .com website liks need to load.

Alternatively you could make seperate pages for each region and a list of countries to click on taking us to the correct page.

Have you read all the books on there ? I'd be interested to knoe about Richard Branson, as I have the misfortune of using one of his crap services with no other choice really that guy needs to start thinking quality, not buy a company strip it to a skelenton crew and service and then try and run it like a proper business !

That would be nice. Doesn't sound easy to implement though.

Yes, all the books on there I have read and can recommend.
Love him or hate him, Branson's book is great read.
