I need a contact temperature sensor to get the temperature of a container. How about ds18b20 (http://www.componentschip.com/pdf/6a-DS18B20-T-R.pdf)?
Anything like LM35 which I found from google search gives me ambient temperatures. Can anyone suggest an easy to use contact temperature sensor? Accuracy as high as possible! I am going to use it with an Arduino Due, if that information is relevant.

Either work. There is already ample support for the DS18B20 in Arduino if I'm not mistaken. Contact is more about what you put the chip in and how it is mounted. I used to have a round flat disk for measuring such things. It's all about the contact area.

Temp range?I used lm35 and 18b20 with arduino nano and mega and other some proprietary control box,all worked fine.18b20 limit is 115 deg I think.for upper temp (needed 470deg)I used max31855 with k thermocouple you can reuse later the project and big advantage you find tc with screw fix or penetration so temp acquisition is perfect.
As for 16b20 or lm35 like,just do a hole put some thermal paste silicone type and isolate accordingly the pins with retractable.
If you want pro use tc or ptc (max31865 I guess).it's simple like 18b20.regards,Pierre

i prefer the DS18B20, there is some package waterproof, which really suit for real applications.

there are many sensors with much higher accuracy, but as you will used with arduino, the 18B20 is enough. do not forget some thermal paste silicone to make the 18b20 contacts to the item you want to measure.

DS18B20 absolute accuracy is too low, the stability is poor. I suggest you use PT100 platinum resistance sensor, at present I have achieved its high-precision acquisition. Temperature fluctuations of less than 0.01 ?
