GM328 white screen
« on: February 27, 2019, 06:30:02 pm »
Hi,

I  probably have posted in the wrong section so sorry about that.

However I have built one of those gm328 component testers and am getting a white screen on power up. Can some one help me out please?

Things I have tried so far:
  • Checking mcu with avrdude using a usbtiny ISP. The chip wouldn't give a signature so replaced it with another m328p.
  • Tried flashing various fw from links in this forum.

The version of product is the colour TFT gm328 with rotatory encoder and frequency generator. I got it from amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/KKmoon-Transistor-Capacitance-Frequency-Generator/dp/B01HCU8VTM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1551291890&sr=8-3&keywords=kkmoon+gm328

Hope someone can point me in the right direction with fault finding this? Hopefully I have built it correctly and its just a firmware issue?

Cheers!

Definitely wrong zone, but ...are you using a decent power supply?
Those kits are infamous for white screens when using crappy batteries.
G'luck!:-)

it's NOT a GM328, those are green backlit monochrome.
it's an "AY-AT" from some scumbag seller using the wrong description to get more search hits.

the difference is important if you want to flash it - try AY-AT firmware.

I had the same behavior on first power up of my GM328 2018 kit. The problem was fixed after I resoldered the male pin header for the display.
I have BS degrees in CS and EE both in 1996. Since this time I have worked for the same medical imaging research team primarily as a programmer. Now at 47 I am trying to get back into electronics projects.
