Blog post translated by a third party on a sketchy site

Hi all
I run the blog robotsforroboticists.com somebody recently emailed me that they translated several of my posts into a different language (latvian) and want me to link to it. The translation seems to check out via google translate.

Normally I would say that is great, but in this case the base part of the link they sent me is a sketchy spam site. For example sketchy_site.com/qwfwef13weeqf/translated_post.

What do people think, should I link to it? or refrain from linking since it is helping to build the ranking of a spam site?

(I am traveling and wont be able to recheck this thread for 2 days, but thanks in advance for your responses)

I would not link to a "sketchy spam site".

The main thing is, on balance is it useful or annoying/harmful to a reader of your site? If the site is truly annoying to read, or if it seems likely to distribute malware via an evil ad network, then you are not being kind to your readers by linking it.

The part with the translation seems fine and good to read. If you go to just the base part of the URL then you see the bad part.

I dont have that many Latvian readers... But it might be nice for them.

Do not link them, but encourage them to put the translation on your site instead and link back. Your content, your users copyright, thus the derivative work should provide proper attribution and the best is to have it on your site.
