Quite a list. One channel that I note is conspicuous by its absence is

Mr Carlson's Lab http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU9SoQxJewrWb_3GxeteQPA

Not being a vacuum tube aficionado myself I still find his carefully crafted videos entertaining and educational. He does non vacuum tube stuff as well and his latest video was a pearler.

Perhaps it's best to stick to just electronics related youtube channels here?
Another thread can have machining, science, or whatever.
I've also changed the title, moved to Other Blogs, and made it sticky.

How can you include RODALCO2007 but not photonicinduction?!

On a serious note, an excellent idea.

I would remove
Veritasium
Techmoan
Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky
MIT OpenCourseWare

These could be added
EcProjects http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoWAZOGQAnBJTtgKSxK2Dvw

Micah Elizabeth Scott http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaEgw3321ct_PE4PJvdhXEQ

Texas Instruments http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-EXTfLnOmCKVRJrv8xoGrQ

The list is already long. It might be worthwhile creating some categories. like Commercial, Education (MIT, Carnegie Mellon etc) or Electronics (mostly) and if you want to keep Veritasium or Techmoan then a category Of Nerd Interest for example.

Personally in the interests of controlling the length of the list I would drop anything that was in the Education Commercial or Of Nerd Interest and stick strictly to Electronics YouTubers. Which means I'd be quite a bit more ruthless culling the current list to size. If inclusion is defended on the basis of popularity rather than majority electronics content then cut it.

On that basis Quantum Leaps would go also. I highly recommend the channel to someone interested in ARM programming but I couldn't defend its retention on electronics content. Photoinduction would go on the same basis, as would State of Electronics. Nothing against the channels but not a popularity contest.

Either way an unstructured and unlimited list becomes unwieldy quite quickly.  In these early stages I'd suggest moving all the questionable electronics related out and seeing if anyone can make a persuasive case for inclusion. Ie a multimeter, breadboard, PCB for a project or soldering iron smoke appears in more than 50% of the videos.

Thanks anyway to the list maintainer, this at least is a step in the right direction in maintaining a useful sticky.

I'm very happy to see of other lists of technology/science/engineering/embedded/whatever related channel on here and make those threads sticky as well.
After all, that's the whole point of this board, to showcase other blogs and channels.

Not sure about culling - but I do agree with some form of categorisation.

I might also be interested in a two line summary of each channel's general style of content - but I concede that this might be a bit too much to ask.

Are we just sticking to English content producers?, Should we include a few Non-English Youtubers as well?, We could include another column to state the language if required, I do watch quite a few of these and still learn the odd tip here and there.

This Russian fellow is a good example, he recently uploaded over four and a half hours of video just comparing Dave's BM-235 with a couple of other meters, well drawn out but some bits were otherwise worthwhile, he seems to have a pretty good following guided by the comments section, one of many I suspect.

With such a long list it need some descriptive text to help people find things of interest. That might help later categorisation.

Perhaps just take the first line of the channels "about" description. eg Mr Carlson's Lab would be "Electronic "how to's,"  and random project descriptions."
Or Mikeselectricstuff would be "Video department of www.electricstuff.co.uk"

Both of which could do with a little work.

What I used to do for long list info on forums

Start a new topic  >> Post 5 or 6 messages directly after in the new thread (place holder or reserved for content) Then I had the space needed for the info I wanted to add. I asked those in charge to unsticky the old list and sticky the new thread with my reserved space. All in effort to be helpful to the community then. Not this one, another one. :)

That is what I used to do, it worked well.

With a big list, I think a 1-line description or list of typical subjects would be very helpful. Probably better than categories as it requires less work, and is more flexible
Youtube channel:Taking wierd stuff apart. Very apart.
Mike's Electric Stuff: High voltage, vintage electronics etc.
Day Job: Mostly LEDs

Formatting using BBcode table layout....  (if you want)

Works great - thanks
Did you type in every line?
Absolutely not.  Dropped it into Excel, split it into two columns and just concatenated with the table markup code.

Can I ask that you delete your list so there are not two lists.  I credited you in the original post.

thanks

....... SUGGESTION NEEDED  .......THIS HAS ALMOST REACHED ITS SIZE LIMIT OF 20,000 CHARACTERS ......  WHAT TO DO --

A suggestion for shortening....

Code: [Select]
[url=http://www.youtube.com/user/Afrotechmods]user/Afrotechmods[/url]
It takes out the common https://www.youtube.com/ from the displayed URL - but the link behind it is still complete.  Saves 24 characters per entry.
