Together with two friends/colleagues in the field I am currently writing an technical/informational book.
I can't completely tell what it is all about (although some people might already guessed it), but basically it's about an informational engineering guide to bust out many myths in certain areas of engineering.
The idea is to maybe also start an ongoing patreon "blog" about certain subjects.
Not only is that a good way of earning some money in the meantime, but also "free" advertisement and a more modern way of distributing.
There are also certain things that aren't really worth telling in a book, but are fine for some kind of blog style thing.
Maybe even a Youtube channel, although I am not much of a mouth flapper myself.
(for the record, I am NOT doing it for the money, but purely to bust out all these widespread misconceptions)
The only issue is that I am certain we WILL get tons of hate response.
That risk is also real with a book, but in general the type of audience will respect the writer a lot more.
Also the threshold of reading a dedicated book is much higher than just reading some blog/watching YT videos.
Another reason is that there is even a lot of misconception among professionals (and most of them are just simply afraid of their reputation or products)
So my question is how to cope with this?
Is it just a matter of ignoring all the hate, or maybe just giving proper references at each episode?
I have no idea how to tackle this, so any kind of ideas are welcome.
