Yeah

Sounds like you are still recording audio directly on phone.  You really need to stop saying ah every couple of words.  Train yourself, after a few times it makes me scream ha ha  I started screaming so much I had to stop watching ha ha ha

Just wanted to let you all know, still going! I really do appreciate the help and feedback. Still waiting on those darn mics to do a test video on. But kicking along, got a little out of practice during the holidays. But some stuff is definitely becoming second nature. Still working on the ahs, but I think don't do it as much as I used to. :) For the most part anyways.  :)

I suggest you add your YT channel to your forum profile so it shows at the bottom of your posts.  It took me awhile to figure out who you are to add your name to the list.

Try a diffuser of some sort.  The idea is to spread the light source over a wide area so you don't get 'hot spots'.

The reflection that annoys is nothing more than excessive illumination on that particular location - that pushes the luminance right up into the maximum of the camera, giving the 'white-out' result.  If you close down the aperture of the camera, you will see the detail quite clearly - but the rest of the scene will be too dark.

By spreading the light source around, the reflections are also spread around.  This gives more even lighting, less obvious shadows and can significantly reduce - if not eliminate - 'hot spots'.

You can get "Light tents".  I feel they would tend to be a bit confining.  They can be a little costly, but you might want to check them out, if for no other reason as to see how they work.

We have translucent milk bottles here that I have used in some still photography on some small subjects - but I am looking at grabbing the next discarded LCD TV set I see and scavenging the diffuser sheets out of it.

just take the LCD panel out, and replace with a sheet of glass if it is broken, or peel off the polarising films leaving a slightly opaque glass sheet instead. then either hack the power supply to turn on the backlights and give them the appropriate brightness signals, or look at the driver datasheet and get a 555 timer to emulate the intensity signal instead and put a pot on there to adjust a little if needed, or make it fixed.

Done, I had it in but and this is kind of funny. I removed it cause I figured since it was linked here I didn't need to.  :palm:

Sorry about that.

You seem to do good amount of effort but still very low view rate, I wonder why? I did one video (a year ago, I plan to return doing them) and it is around 1900 views while being the only video in the channel.

Lol, I made around 1.3$ so far. lololol... may I ask how much have you gained till now? it is a serious question for me. I will subscribe if you answered it xD as well as subscribe to my channel too.

good luck!

Hi Vegeta,

I haven't monetized my channel, so I'm not sure if that is what you are asking. It really depends on the videos, some of them get lots more views than others. I've only been doing this since November so can't really compare with an older video. I do a Starting Out On Youtube? - Series where I go over stats and various thoughts and experiences if you are interested. Really do it as a hobby and for fun. :)

Good luck!

what camera do you use? I bought cannon isus 175 recently but there is noise in the video. how to fix it in a way to film such videos??

I tried to get the new ixus 175 camera to a good set but couldn't, it is only 720p @ 20M pixels with x8 zoom, it is worse than I thought. the tripod only goes up so no rods tilting elsewhere.

I wonder how you record really. Do you sit and then put the camera tripod between your legs? tell me plz

Hey there,

Are we talking audio noise or video noise? For video noise, more lighting is good. :) For audio noise I use a program called audio director that came with cyberlink powerdirector.

My camera is an old iPhone 4s I got off ebay cheap, it does 1080p, not perfect but works ok.

I have an odd setup, it's a light with a magnifier I set the phone on top of it (had to diffuse the light from that) and just set it to the position and height I want, I'm not quite sure that would work with a real camera. I've seen Julian Illets setup on twitter and his looks beefier, I'm not sure where he got it, but that would probably work better with a real camera. It's similar to the way my lamp works, and hes got some sort of mount at the end. (see attached)

Mine is a traditional tripod so the problem is how to set it in front of me and work at the same time. IXUS 175 quality is not good which was an unfortunate for me, zooming is crap and video is full of noise. I don't know what to do.

I thought of putting the tripod on the opposite side and make the camera point downwards, this is ok but I need to flip the final image and make sure everything is pointing flat to the camera especially multimeters.

The question is now, how to shoot videos of the whole working area? like showing me plus part of the bench (multimeters, breadboard, ...)? Also, writings on papers loose focus! I thought it will be easy, just put the camera and shoot but it turns out hard.

It's an art for sure, I spent hours and hours playing around and tweaking then stuff becomes second nature. I go with fixed exposure/auto focus it allows me to make sure I get it, a little bit of a pain, but not too bad. Do you have any decent lighting around the bench? I use 2 additional lamps on top of my overhead lights. Lighting makes a big difference and can be cheap to implement.

Tripod is tricky. With trial and error you may find something that works well for you. Or I know some people build some cool little structures to hold their camera in an ideal spot. That's also a possibility.

I use a traditional tripod which I discovered that it is useless for tabletop shots, especially with low quality camera like IXUS 175. Someone suggested this for me: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Univers-Flexible-Lazy-Bracket-Mobile-Phone-Stand-Holder-Car-Bed-Desk-For-iPhone-/252532913931?hash=item3acc22770b:g:nRYAAOSwi0RX0zGX

this allows the user to put the camera just in front of him and shoot down which is just perfect for electronics, I assume you do the same thing right? I just don't know if this can hold a real camera not a phone.

I searched and found this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Flexible-Lazy-Bracket-Mobile-Phone-Stand-Holder-Car-Bed-Desk-For-iPhone-Samsung/301988952306?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D2220072%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41670%26meid%3D7c6810f17c954d9982135dab719820a5%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D272456318743

do you think it is good?

I'm not sure, I got the second one you linked on order just waiting for it to arrive, looking at the IXUS 175 it lookes like it should hold it ok. But I don't for sure know the quality of it yet. But yours looks like it shouldn't way much more than a phone, so would probably be ok. Tripod is still useful for frontal shots :)

Right now, mines sets atop something like this:

well, I have managed to make a stupid-ass setup using my traditional tripod. I put a chair with a plastic table on it (inclined) then made the tripod leg stand on the plastic table's inner parts... I will post a picture if I remember tomorrow.

Now I knew how to fix my problems the unusual unofficial way, I guess fighting against big problems is in the Palestinian DNA!
