ALL IN ONE - Distributor Search
« on: October 03, 2018, 11:17:12 am »
Ok, so I'm a bit nervous about posting a link to my yoDisty.com project as I know some may see it as spam. It's a project to search the various fleamarket sites for electronic components all in one to save time. Currently users have to juggle many search sites.. My idea is that I can expand out and add in lots of small regional parts distributors. Kind of like findchips/octopart but with lots of smaller hobbyist sites. It's rough so hopefully you guys wont be too harsh :)

I've gotta say this is nice!

One feature request is to be able to filter for only Chinese suppliers (without USA or anything) because shipping rates suits me living in Jordan (The small country next to occupied Palestine) while others like Digikey have huge shipping.

Wow, I didn't know that many places existed. I do a lot of audio and have found Profusion to be a good source of semiconductors. No problem shipping to the USA.

Thanks VEGETA,
The project was initially for private use. However, i thought I was onto something when I sent the link out to 45 hobbyists I know and over 20 of them are using it daily. So I decided to develop the idea a bit and post here.

+1  :-+

But http://yodisty.com gives me a "Couldn't resolve host 'yodisty.com'" whereas http://www.yodisty.com works fine.
$ curl http://yodisty.com
curl: (6) Couldn't resolve host 'yodisty.com'

Very nice tool. Tested for several rare parts I used in my latest projects. Didn't known so much locations to shop.
Also the link to a PDF, if available is quite nice.
Just missing the possibility to filter on the columns (not just sort) as VEGETA already posted.
Have vookmarked the link.

Thanks for the input. I already have a bunch of improvements in the pipeline based on feedback. I've also a refined list of distributors to add or default on the service.

Should add Walmart (example: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Brand-New-Microchip-Pic16F887-8Bit-Mcu-Pic16F-20Mhz-40-Pin-Dip-2-Pack/247037033) and maybe Target.

BTW: It is Electronic Goldmine, not Electronics (http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/).   It would be helpful if your list was in alphabetical order.

Wow! I had no idea Walmart and Target sell components. Do they have a broad range or just a few very common items? I will look to add them

and thanks for the correction on Electronic Goldmine

GeorgeofTheJungle - RS Components are on there but listed under Europe as they are in Corby England. But I see Amidata RS online. Is that an RS company specific to one country?

It was, it seems, RS Components Spain. I didn't know!

yoDisty.com should geo direct to the correct distributor locale when you click though to buy or click "View Results". For example if you click RS and you're in spain it uses https://es.rs-online.com/web/

Did this website project become too hard to maintain?
Seems like another cross-site search utility would be really good right now with all the component shortages.

Edit: I was following this topic from way back, but this is also the only post on EEVblog that mentions Ameya360 which I've not come across till now.  And they may have the part I need... LM5009MM/NOPB

An ideal AI starter project! The next step is to get it to read data sheets and come up with the ideal available part and agressively negotiate a price.
