AS5600L analog output problems
« on: January 07, 2019, 10:10:20 pm »
I'm playing with AS5600L position sensor breakout board, AS5600L-WL_EK_AB, the one with the WL-CSP footprint.

I've connected it up to the AMS tools - USB I&P Box.  It shows the device working - the I2C interface shows the registers and current position.

If I set it to PWM mode, my scope shows the PWM signal on the OUT pin changing as I change the magnet angle.

But, if I set it to analog mode (VDD), I only get the full voltage on the OUT pin.  I expected the voltage to be between 0 and VDD depending on the magnet angle.  I've tried pull up and pull down resistors, without any luck.

Has anyone used these?  Is my understanding of the analog output incorrect?  I contacted AMS technical support but they just redirected me to local distributors (mouser, digikey, etc)

I do not see any analog mode in the datasheet to begin with  :-//.

Doh!

I was looking at the AS5600 datasheet  :(

Looks like PWM mode it is, although it means I have to program it before I can use it.

Thanks for the help.
