chinese resistor color code
« on: January 29, 2015, 06:13:12 am »
did these guys invent their own color code for resistors?

I got  an assortment of 1/4w metal film resistors.
the ones I got were on tape in qty of 20 each, stamped with their value on the tape.

The stamped value was fairly accurate when checked against my Fluke DMM.
the Resistor Color bands on the other hand were not marked properly on the majority that I had checked.

I contacted the seller, see what the deal is.  This can cause some major headaches down the road.

I questioned my own learning, had to go verify that what I learned a long time ago, still applies, and it does.  (BBROYGBVGW)

I have a decent supply of 1/4w carbon film, just wanted to expand my stock a bit with a variety.

you get what you pay for and all that, but how hard do you have to try to mess up a long standing standard?   Maybe they're factory "seconds"?  IDK. waiting for an answer.
My job is so secret, even I don't know what I'm doing!

What does "not marked properly" mean?
I got an assortment of resistors that are very difficult to read.
Its not that they used the WRONG colors, but the colors are not very bright, and not really "pure" colors.
If you know the value, you can look at the colors and say: "Yeah, I guess that could be brown red orange".

Maybe you did read them in reverse order and did read the tolerance band as the first digit and vv?
