Choosing mosfet for reverse bias protection
« on: July 22, 2017, 07:33:45 pm »
Hi all, I have a quick question, I need to make reverse bias protection for 4 AA batteries block, I currently tried this one and it works well:
https://www.fairchildsemi.com/datasheets/FR/FR014H5JZ.pdf
however, isn't it the same thin as P-channel mosfet? I am asking because if it is, then I can find P-channel mosfet on digikey that is a bit smaller and has less Rds resistance.

It can be done with a P Channel MOSFET.  Just do a google search.

Well, taking time to figure out the thermal resistance and power dissipation for 1 oz copper since that device is speced at 2 oz copper with a 1 inch square thermal pad, I'm not sure how much engineering time you save.  And the example is a USB connection?   Lower Rds might start looking better.  Again, just choices I suppose.
