DAB Radio modules and Firmware...
« on: April 11, 2017, 08:36:57 pm »
Anyone know where to get hold of the Frontier Silicon Venice/Verona slave SERMMI firmware?

I've got a few Verona modules here and would like to be able to control them via a serial link...

Any hints appreciated.

Which radios did you got the modules from? I am thinking about a project with a DAB receiver and Verona modules looks promising (if i manage to put my hands on the documentation).

I got them out of John Lewis Aston DAB radios,I bought a batch of faulty ones and found they all had duff audio amps.

Would be very interested to see documentation for them

Same as me, but it seems Frontier Silicon is quite secretive about it's SDK... I might design a module based on the SI4685, it would take some time (and money) but the documentation is readily available.

Sorry to drag this one up from the dead, but I too have salvaged one of these modules from a broken clock radio (got launched across the room one Sunday morning...) I'm working on a little receiver project and this module would be an ideal addition but I can find precious little about it online.

Guess nobody has come across any documentation (or the SDK...)

Sorry if that's a naughty question :P

I could provide a firmware image of a Verona 1 module in master SERMMI mode at 19.2kbps and a description of the protocol if that is helpful. Master SERMMI means that the module handles the UI by itself and you only receive the display content and send keyboard scancodes via the uart interface.

That firmware image would be very useful, but how to get it onto the modules I have?
