IEC 14 Connector mod for the FX-888
« on: February 17, 2013, 10:02:58 pm »
Hello all!

I was inspired to open up the Hakko once I saw the LED mod (Thanks Dave!) in order to correct another personal annoyance of mine - not just with this iron, but many corded objects.

I prefer to be able to remove a cord from a piece of electronics to allow simple organization, whether it be storage or arrangement on your workbench!  So, in my perfect world, most devices would have an IEC 14 panel connector, and I can simply keep some standard computer cords around to satisfy my plug needs.  I can't seem to get rid of them all!

So begins the show! Don't mind my dremel skills - they need polished:D

I like this mod and I may do this myself because whenever I need to use the soldering iron off my bench I find myself having to climb down and figure out which out of 50 cables is connected to it.

Every piece of test equipment (other then my hakko and old agilent supply) has IEC 14 connectors...

What cons are there to them?  :-//

Wow, that was a very tight fit. Your dremel skills are 3 timer better than mine.  ::)
What is that blue stuff, I guess it's some kind of silicone?

They increase the cost of the device that uses them...  ;)
