Help identify LCD Display

Can someone identify this rather nice display found on a name badge?

It is a 128x64 LCD producing black squares

The glass is about 55mm wide, 35mm tall (the actual display region being a bit smaller)

There is strange slightly tactile strip along the bottom of the glass and a 28 pin flexible cable.

Any ideas?

Sorry, can't help with the actual identification but that slightly tactile strip at the bottom is covering the Chip on glass driver and its connections. Don't tact

Look at a distributor like Digikey and select same pixel count and similar sizes and look at the connectors.
28 give or take a couple of pins should give you lots of displays.  Majority will probably use the same chips on the back (and some clones of well known chips, or chips with same commands as older known chips) so the order of the pins is usually similar on a lot of displays.

if you open datasheets of various displays (especially those made by newhaven), you'll find the chip (or chip clone) they use mentioned in the pdf and even links to documentation of original chip on their website and sample code.

It would be hard to identify the exact display, unless someone just knows it.

Look around for other color combinations. BuyDisplay is a good source for information on things you can actually buy.

Thanks very much for your help so far... I did wonder about whether it had an embedded controller and I was not aware of "COG" as a search term so that has helped hugely.

Is the screen size measured along the diagonal and in inches like TVs?  So this is a 2.1" display?

Also... ST7565R seems to be a popular option. Need to trace some wires.

But pinout on the connector may not be standard.

Should not badges be open source so you could hack them?
