I have been working on a project for a little while for a high voltage leakage tester.
It is arduino based, and is actually pretty simple, it generates a DC voltage up to about 500V (depending upon how it is constructed), the arduino measures the supply and DUT voltages, and also the voltage across a current shunt. This is then displayed on an LCD.
I wanted to make this after coming across a problem with a high voltage transistor which was leaking and shorting only when exposed to high voltages (when I was repairing my Fluke 5200A AC calibrator), I had no way of easily testing, so I wanted to build something to do it, it can also test for capacitor leakage, or anything you need to check the current draw of at high voltages.
I have the unit completed (sure it could still be improved further but it does what I set out to do) the video series is on my channel, I am releasing the project, code, gerbers, eagle design files etc so that anyone else can build one too, should be easy to make the design choices and do the build after viewing the videos.
The final video is scheduled to go live on Saturday morning, I will post add it here too once it is live.
