I have wondered for a long time if there is presently a good quality and safe rechargeable CR123A cell rated at more than 400 mAh. Presently, major companies only make that capacity. Yet, there is no shortage of companies claiming they have higher capacities, some over 1000 mAh. However, they are not made by any recognizable or major manufacturer. There is no shortage of companies in China and Hong Kong making these cells with high capacity claims- but almost all should be stayed away from due to serious safety issues. For example, the cells may not have been made in accord with IEC safety standards, or the cell lacks a PTC safety device, which is essential in case of failure or short circuit. Also, many of these cells generally do not have good reviews about their actual capacity and\or charge retention in storage. Are there any good quality rechargeable CR123A cells available with more than 400 mAh capacity, and if so, who makes them?
