LED Desktop Magnifying Lamp repair
« on: April 28, 2017, 05:53:05 am »
LED desktop lamp with a diffusion lens  It features 18 super bright LEDs in a ring, if you see this design for sale.
it has a flexible goose neck for directional light, an integrated switch on the base, 2x magnification,
an AC to 5 volt 1 amp DC adapter and battery provision (3 x AAA batteries, not included).
The base measures 15 cm in diameter and the lamp, fully extended, is 49 cm high. comes in black or white.
in an example of poor design the 18 LED resistors have values set for 4 volts 42 ohm - for the 3 x AAA batteries.
but not for the 5 volt 1 amp DC - AC plugpack adaptor. so the Desktop Magnifying Lamp will fail in less then 200 hrs.
at 800ma the 3 x AAA batteries will be dead in no time. so the AC plugpack adaptor is used.
here is my Desktop Magnifying Lamp repair useing warm white smd .5 watt LEDs. and a two diode voltage drop mod on the power input jack.
