Using 2.4GHz duck antennas with subghz radio?
« on: December 14, 2017, 12:05:32 pm »
Since I am not from RF field, had this questions where I am using CC1350 subghz radio in one of my project and I have some of these 2.4GHz wifi duck antennas lying around, where I wanted to ask if I can use them with the CC1350 subghz radio operating at around 915 MHZ. If not, why?

Its very hard to tell how well it will work at 915MHz since they do not publish and specs at this frequency. I doubt it will work well, because the antenna element will be too short at this frequency and the impedence match will likely be very poor also.

For a very short range link(say across a room) it may work a bit, but then I bet an 8cm bit of random wire would work better.
