It's quite convincing.

Just cost me a couple of hours. :D

It would be better if you qualified what to beware of on the page, in your thread title too (clickbait).

If the data is inaccurate, then you ought to clarify what. On the other hand, if it's infested with something harmful, then you shouldn't directly link it.

Needless to say, I won't be clicking on the link.
Best Regards, Chris

The article is an attempt to be literate about something he doesn't actually understand, but I don't see any attempt to deceive.

The correct answer is to personally confirm what pin is associated with what wire color, and not to make any assumptions. To do that, you also need to know the actual pin-out of the USB plug/jack in question, which the article does not address at all.

All USB cables in the market always have 5 volts DC which could damage slightly to your device but not totally.
:wtf: seeing sentences like that is enough to give me the "be wary of this advice" feeling.

There is no standard USB color code (and even if there was, do you think the Chinese care about something that literally won't be seen by anyone who isn't hacking open USB cables...?)

Aha, I saw that it is a bunch of crap spread over two pages but I didn't read it all and I didn't understand what to beware of.
Maybe he can explain the S-Video cable as well?  :palm:
