Micromanipulator for pushing SMD parts around
« on: September 18, 2016, 08:05:58 am »
I was thinking of putting together a simple panto-graph thingo for pushing SMD parts around when hand assembling. Anyone done this of have any useful gadget ideas?

Something to help nudge a fine pitch part sideways a little or press a part down slightly into the solder paste. I thought it might be handy for minimising hand tremble & caffeine shakes.

Searching for ideas turned up this little device in the attached picture, it''s got a 4:1 motion reduction. There's a utube video of it in action.

I wonder how it would work if a vacuum pickup was fitted to the business end.
