Mini thermal camera core - Sofradir atom80
« on: April 15, 2014, 02:13:04 pm »
Hey guys,

What kind of thermal camera is this with just a single board? Any insights? Mike, THE E4 tearer?
It uses Ulis Micro80p sensor..

What is that connecter for? Maybe, there are more boards, and this is just a sensor board, but why is that connecter on the sensor board?

It's an integrated module with USB 2.0, just needs a lens and housing ... that said, that's pretty obvious.

If you're doing stealth advertising could you tell us something interesting like a price? :p

No. Not doing any ad.
Just a newbie and trying to understand why would someone put an FPGA just below/so close to the sensor if you say its a module already, assuming it has an FPGA.

Well, why not?

If you are optimizing for cost and small size, having everything on one tiny board is an obvious advantage.

USB? This is just a little closer to the idea of cheap thermal webcams becoming available...

That USB is probably just for FPGA programming, not data transfer.

the usb is for getting image data, but its only an 80x80 sensor, so not a lot of data to transfer

For $150 I'd buy it...
