mouser shopping cart filler
« on: April 17, 2014, 10:20:31 pm »
If I add $5 more stuff to my mouser shopping cart, I get free shipping ($40), and in effect another $40 to spend.

But I can't think of anything to add.

Can anyone suggest a cool module or IC to grab?  I don't mind if it exceeds $40 - I just haven't been keeping up with what's new for the last 6 months.

I'm into motion control, cnc pendants, displays.  My next build will be a DLP 3d printer (either projector or UV laser + galvo).

$6.60 a nice budget Cypress PSoC4 board (PSoC 4 has an ARM Cortex-M0) on board and is the budget line of PSoC.

You could get an STM32 dev board. This one is a good price/performance. Essentially about the same price as the chip plus you get a display and other goodies.

That's a nice feature packed micro.  Do I have to buy a compiler to program for it?

I just got it myself yesterday from Newark. Cocoox seems to be the prefered free compilier unfourtanetly they don't support this chip, they are supposed to soon though. There are a couple of threads on free compilers for 32b, here is one.

By the way mouser is expensive I got my STM and PSOC boards from Newark.

I got an email voucher from newark " SPRING10C" It doesn't work with everything. It didn't work with the STM board or the PSOC ones but it saved me a few bucks on some other stuff.

yeah I only suggested because it was >$5 (not by much) and he's looking for filler. Other places are definitely cheaper.

I got my PSoC prototyping kits from Cypress at $4 each, but $7.50 shipping. but for a couple of dollars extra and the shipping included because your other orders, might be worth paying the extra money.

If I heard you right, you have $45, you could do a lot with this:

Seems to be world-wide. Mouser is amazing in this regard. I ordered from them on Monday and got it today. It made the trip from the US to Austria in under 5 days without shipping costs!

Worldwide excluding the US? I've never seen it, and don't see anything about it, located in USA...

I get free shipping from Mouser and Digi-Key when the order is > 525 NOK (about $88). UPS takes 2 days (not 5) unless the weekend is in the way.

That's known as 2-business days. I recently was reminded of this by an ebay seller that has a 3-7 business day shipping policy.  If you buy on a friday and it's in the afternoon you could get your package 11 days later and they meet their policy. I had never stopped to consider this.
