Oscilloscope Simulator
« on: December 09, 2014, 05:20:52 pm »
Hello, I'm from Poland, but currently living in the UK.

I present you my analog oscilloscope simulator. I am aware that there is a lot of similar stuff, but I hope to design something more complex. My program uses FFT and Butterworth filter so there is  proper AC/DC coupling. Signal can be taken from text file - you can generate own one. As a guide i took Tektronix 465 and w2aew videos from Youtube.

Please, tell me what do you think about it. The project is in very early stage (I wrote it couple of days ago). Due to the design it works more  like "single shot" mode. Long time ago I designed CRT simulator with persistence, focus, brightness etc. but it is slow...
Program in ZIP file as an attachment.

I quite like it...

Has a nice feel to it and seems to work very well.

How about an option to show channel two as a yellow trace? - takes away the realism, but might make dual-trace easier on the eye.

... oh ... and welcome to the forum. I am new here too.

@hexreader: Sorry, it's analog scope with monochromatic crt...

@Dajgoro: Try now, updated file in first post. If it still doesn't work, install .NET Framework.

Yes, I must admit I was a bit nervous at doing so, and checked the .exe best I could before running. Would not want to guarantee that the file is harmless though...

And the answer seems clear.... at least two of us took the chance :)

I would certainly recommend that others be more cautious. mcinque makes a good point.
