PCB Enclosure companies Recommendations

Hi All,

I have a PCB which is 117mm x 76mm with a height of 20mm. I am looking for a flanged enclosure or any enclosure which can be mounted on a wall, but I am having hard time finding an enclosure which will fit my PCB. I can change my PCB dimensions slightly to fit the enclosure, but I would really like to hear other people suggestion. Where you all go to get a PCB enclosure?

A good plastic or aluminum enclosure would work best for my application.

Off the top of my head. . . Hammond Manufacturing, Bud Industries, OKW, Metcase, Takachi, Rose Bopla/Phoenix Mecano all make enclosures in that size.  Hammond and Bud are available from Digikey/Mouser which is handy, but they don't have the most stylish options.

There's your problem -  pick the enclosure BEFORE you do the PCB layout. It's way easier to fit a PCB to an existing enclosure than find an enclosure that happens to fit your arbitary-shaped PCB.

Precisely. Otherwise, you are doomed to making a totally custom enclosure.

Ebay is now filled with variety of sizes, for eq this will fit your pcb, you need to resize to bigger 158x90x60mm plastic in case reduced size is much preferable, then resize to 112X60X30MM aluminium. this is flanged aluminium flavor 88x39x100mm aluminium ymmv

Precisely. Otherwise, you are doomed to making a totally custom enclosure.

Custom, giant and/or expensive.

For one of my projects I'm just going the "giant" route since it's more of an experiment.

We have been making custom enclosures for the past couple of years, do you have a design in mind that we could look at for you? We specialize in composite and aluminium mfg.

If you can't buy it off the shelf, go custom!

(custom) extruded alu cases are actually really affordable. Tooling is less than 1k us.

But from what I've heard is that there's a fairly significant minimum batch  build quantity due to the size of billet needed - this probably varies a lot between suppliers depending on their machinery.

How many do you need? 10? 100? 1000? 10000?
How much time do you have to solve this?
How much money do you have for each one?
Do they need laser marking? Vinyl labels? Powder coating?

You need to forget the idea you'll find a standard enclosure for your oddball circuit board. It doesn't work that way. Before designing any PCB you need to determine the housing and the mounting holes. Never ever do it the other way around or you are totally screwed (you should have figured that out by now).
