Pre-twisted Mag Wire
« on: September 26, 2017, 05:55:41 pm »
Back in a lab I used to work in, we had reels of pre-twisted mag wire on a spool. This stuff was good for hooking up a scope and basic measurements as the wire was pre-twisted to minimise loop area and it was flexible and didn't need stripping. It was 30 or maybe 32 AWG, one was red and one was green so it was easy to follow.

Now I can't find anything like this one the web and I'm starting to suspect that maybe our lab techs made this in house? Everything with a twisted pair seems to have an outer insulation which makes it stiffer and means it requires stripping etc.
Anyone know where I could buy more of this stuff?

Cat5 twisted pairs have plastic insulation whereas I want enamelled. However the "50 Metres 2 STRANDS 0.10mm RED/GREEN Enamelled Copper Wire & Double Silk" looks promising.

*shrug*, it shrinks right off with the touch of an iron.

Hair thin. The 0.19mm should be closer to what you've used.

Yep, plenty of google and ebay hits for a lot of things. But all the ebay results for this search are in the US and have high shipping cost and most of the other results that turn up either require getting a quote which is always a pain unless you have a large order.
