Ready made multiple gas monitoring device available?
« on: June 26, 2018, 09:40:45 am »
Greetings.

I was looking for a push in type(like the VA panel meters) gas monitoring device and could't find from a quick google search.

Requirements:
Max 5 types of gases(medical) up to 10bar.
Monochrome LCD display to show how much pressure is maintained/coming on each gas line.
Need to fix in a cut out on a sheet metal box.
Hospital environment.

does anybody came across/aware such solution is available?

Thanks.

From your description I do not have a clear idea what you are looking for. If you want to detect the presence or absence of particular gases, you'll have to specify which ones. Detectors for some gases are widely available. Others are not. However, your inclusion of 10bar in your description makes me wonder of you are actually just trying to detect the pressure of 5 gas lines.

@coppice- sorry for the confusion, the device has to show how much pressure is maintained/coming on the each gas line.

I will update the same on the above post.

Again, what gasses?

O2 at 10 bar for example has some materials requirements that would not apply to N2, and I would bet that some of the anaesthetic gasses would have issues all of their own.

Now if you are using external sensors (Which would be the way to go) then the readout can be any old HMI panel that knows how to talk to modbus or 4-20mA transducers. And the external transducers can be chosen for compatibility with the particular gasses in use.

Regards, Dan.

Are analog gauges OK? They're cheap and reliable.
Cryptocurrency has taught me to love math and at the same time be baffled by it.

Cryptocurrency lesson 0: Altcoins and Bitcoin are not the same thing.

Yes, there are lots, speak to the people who supply your medical gases, they will be able to advise suitable, safe and compatible solutions, don't half arse something where people's lives could be put at risk.

That is the existing system.

Yes, there is no way I am going to do this, it is miles and miles away for me.

I just involved with them for finding a suitable local replacement for a pneumatic valve assembly, then during discussion this requirement told.

I thought of suggesting them like, this item is available at this place.

I think you may want a set of flow meters; the clear vertical tube with the little ball that floats higher with more flow.
I have a set of three of these ganged together that were out of calibration for medical use and I use them for mixing welding gasses for my TIG welder.  The set I have are separated by individual regulating diaphragms that keep all three gasses at the same pressure as well as matched input regulators; it is a very complicated device.  I believe it was for nitrous oxide, oxygen and carbon dioxide and was used in an operating room.  I don't see one like it with a google search, but maybe you can.
