Incorrectly marked electronics are common, mainly intentionally rather than accidentally. A large part of the fab industry is to duplicate popular or expensive chips -- whether or not they are labelled as such varies.
This isn't always a bad thing (as it lowers your costs), until you find a part that does not behave as you expected. Regardless of whether or not you trust your supplier, they themselves can be duped (or it could be a honest mistake). Make sure you test your part before redesigning a schematic (and get in contact with your supplier if you think they are reputable enough to care ).
How many are you using? Hack: could you just manually bend the leads the other way and mount them upside-down?
