Source for 300-400 VDC, 1A power supply module, 48VDC input
« on: October 23, 2014, 12:03:36 pm »
Hi guys,

for a project I need a module or a block that can supply a (preferably isolated) voltage (adjustable (preferably electronically) within the range of 300 to 400 VDC) at 1 Amp. The input should be 48VDC. Do you know of such a device? I've checked with VICOR and TRACO and the closest they've got is a MASSIVE (2kW+) overkill or full custom design.

Thank you,

David

Using multiple isolated converters with outputs in series might be an option.

I was looking to do something like this. I ended up just building my own isolated switching supply. It was easier to scrounge up parts than find something ready made.

Two transforms primary to mains. Secondary to secondary.   Primary 240vac rectified and filtered you will have around 300 to 400vdc. And isolated.

Look at appnotes for most SMPS IC's and you will find in there the telecoms apps where the input is 48VDC, and then wind a transformer to give the 400V output and use either controlled attenuation on the feedback or an external linear regulator to give the variable voltage.
