Where do I get this 7 pin rubber din connector?
« on: August 13, 2018, 09:25:33 am »
I am interfacing an MCU to Melnor sprinkler valves and I would like to keep intact the female connector attached to the valves so I need to use matching male connectors. Unfortunately I have not been able to find them anywhere on the web.
They are 14mm in diameter, made of rubber which creates a seal with the female din plug. Here are photos near a ruler. I hope someone will be able to point me to a manufacturer.

Good luck finding those exact connectors, IME those are often standard layout connectors but then put in a proprietary mold for the rubber seal/housing. Each company his own to keep out clones or competition, like Gardena does with its system.

You might find the connector pinout for the contra but the fitting rubber housing is a different story.
I once had such an issue with outdoor lighting system, after a half year search I ended up replacing all the connectors with IP67 or IP68 proof connectors, not cheap but available.

Oh brother, I didn't think about the proprietary mold, you're probably right.

I could try a cheap 7 pin din or the pin base without the sleeve, put a rubberband around it to hold it in place, tie it in a knot so pulling on it won't dislodge it and finally water proof the whole jerry rig with silicone.

I think it's an M12, 12 stands for 12 mm, 1mm extra for the sleeve, right?
Is there a similar site with super cheap din connectors, one with a filter that's as good?

Super cheap ? Then I would try aliexpress and sorts first, if you are lucky this company made them in PRoC or surroundings and they made extra for themselves. Smal chance but even if it indeed is M12 you can find cheap versions there to try your experiments. Only the waiting time is sometimes problematic.
