World's Simplest Soft Latching Power Switch Circuit doesn't work
« on: September 20, 2018, 10:03:08 am »
Hello to all
So I've built the circuit as in the video but the only thing which happened was that one of the supply wires got burned without me doing anything. Is this circuit really supposed to be like this since the base/gate of the p channel transistor will always be grounded and I've checked that a P channel transistor gets on with a positive voltage to the base
After a couple more tries the base of the p channel transistor is always grounded

Hi there,

You shouldn't be using a PNP transistor, it's a P mosfet that was shown in the video.
The gate needs to be isolated otherwise current will flow through the E-B when the switch is pressed.

Here's a handy circuit simulator program you can try the circuit in - https://www.falstad.com/circuit/
