Casio FX-602P

I know this is a long shot but here goes.

My beloved Casio FX-602P that has been with me since my college days has finally errored after more than 35 years.

The display, even with new batteries, shows garbled characters and is frozen. It had been left with discharged batteries for a long while.

Any quick and dirty possibilities to try would be gratefully received before I admit to the inevitable.
