Convert stereo slide potentiometer to mono?
« on: May 21, 2018, 08:17:53 am »
Hi all,
I've got to replace a failed 10KB mono potentiometer and I've found one with the same dimensions but it's stereo :-\
I thought about using just one track of the stereo pot and cut the other set of the legs off but I'm wondering if there could be another way.(ideally using both carbon tracks)
The stereo slider is the same value else I could just wire it in parallel I guess but I couldn't find a 20k one..

Adjacent carbon tracks can differ no matter how good the quality

Otherwise no big deal to use one side of a twin pot, been done many times and no one the wiser
