check Voltage of the power supply board ,check all electrolytic capacitors  ,I think the most reasons are  use ESR meter or LCR to check out cap .

So your backlight is working and the screen is dead. Not even the on screen display?
Some values you can measure: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/dell-2405fpw-psu/msg812579/#msg812579

Definitely check the power supply outputs. Also, for backlights on but no video (especially if the screen is white)
check the fuse on the Tcon board.

Also check for any small surface-mounted fuses on the t-con board (board may be integrated with panel).

This by itself doesn't mean anything!
Capacitor failures are not always physically obvious. They could also look fine, yet be faulty.
If you don't have Capacitance & ESR meters handy, I'd suggest you have all of em replaced to be on the safe side.
Just make sure you put low ESR caps in there (and not general purpose).
Bad capacitors are the #1 reason for monitor issues. Also, I'm not sure what is your level of experience with repairing electronics, so I'm just gonna put it out there, apart from the obvious option of repairing the monitor's power board yourself, you could also get a replacement board from ebay (the board should have a part number on it, which you could look up!)

Electrolytic capacitors are the most common fault I see with these. Often they look perfectly fine but test bad.

That is normal behavior when the CFL goes out. The Display has 2 CFLs. if one is bad it will turn on for a second and then go off. I have a garage full of 22 and 23 inch Dell LCD's with that problem. Too much work to replace the CFL. The CFL replacements are expensive.  :(

Replacing the CCFL tubes is not really that hard on many monitors. You can get LED kits now to retrofit them, they come with a strip(s) of LEDs and a driver board.

Hello all, well I got my hands on a working Dell 2405 monitor opened it up and swapped out the t-con board from mine to the working monitor now it has the same response has what I experienced, back lights come on but no picture, swapped them back, everything fine.I was afraid to put the working board in mine in fear of possibly damaging it.Does anyone have a 2405 t-con board they want to sell?Hard to find one. Thanks
