DS Lite.
« on: August 09, 2014, 10:41:07 pm »
Hello everybody, zerorisers here.
I have an old nintendo DS Lite. problems that I have are that the pads for the power switch are lifted and the ribbon cable for the top lcd keeps shorting. Anything that I can do about either of these problems? (ribbon cables short because of wear and tear on the plastic coating I believe, so if I have it layed out in a particular way I can get a picture.)

Power switch could maybe bodged, is it momentary or off/on 2 position?
For the ribbon, chop up an old PC IDE HD cable for a replacement. Assuming it is for LV?

You can buy pretty much every part for the DS off Ebay.

Thank you both for the reply's, I don't have much money so I am attempting a cheaper alternative. This will be for personal use. The power switch in completely gone off the board.

If it has damaged insulation, then you can just put a piece of insulating tape on it. If it does not help, some conductor is broken.

Wraper seems to have had the best idea for me personally. I will try that and see how it works once I get the power going. I'm hoping once it is fixed I can make my own "game" for it and use if for email notifications and weather on my desk. :)

My apologies to tautech for not properly answering his question, it is a on/off switch I believe.
