elenco xp800
« on: July 19, 2014, 08:25:11 am »
hi guys , i acquired a elenco xp800 from a repair shop when they shut down . The power supply is missing the DC output cap (c6). According the the Manual i have it calls for 77000-123000 uf however it doesn't list the voltage. what is the minimum voltage cap i need? Logic says 30v is the min i need to run, however because caps aren't cheap i would like to confirm that i don't need something larger.

Hi,

Are planning to use the 10A rated output current ?
If the output is 0-28 Vdc you'll need at least 35V caps.

Yes i am planning to use all the existing circuitry. Thank you very much, i knew i would screw the minimum value I needed.  |O I would have tried to crammed a 60v cap in there to be safe, but the only reason i didn't do so because they are huge and expensive.

100000uF 50V at Digi-key 565-3323-ND about 25 Euro ex VAT and shipping.
100000uF 35V at Digi-key 565-3314-ND about 18 Euro ex VAT and shipping.

Just do a parametric search of what you need.

Thanks for part suggestion, I found one locally that will work. I  just need to make some new brackets to hold it into the housing and i would be in business. The original brackets are tiny, like 2 inch wide at best, not sure what type of magic cap they used back in the day but i have a feeling it was way smaller than what is in the manual
