Fixing a DiabloSport Tuner, Cap replacement?
« on: August 26, 2017, 04:20:19 am »
Hello folks, I was givin a dead tuner. I popped it open and found this. I think is a 220uF 6.3V Tantalum cap? You know the blown one next to the TDA7052A audio amp chip. But I can't figure out how to find a replacement for it. Anyone help me out?

Hi there.

Heve you tryed RS-Online, they have lots of suitable replavements.

Alternatively, if the space allow it, use a electrolytic capacitor, and give it a blob of hotmeld to keep it in place.

Thank you. Ordered and worked great. I was under the obviously incorrect assumption the markings would be same, please be gentle, I am still learning :D. This cap wasn't marked in any way the same, however once I replaced it among couple other things everything seems to be functioning well.

I actually thought of that however I didn't want to use an Electrolytic to replace it because I was unsure how why they used a tantalum cap in the first place. Also would electrolytic need a different value?

Anyways, thank you for the help, I really appreciate it.
