Garmin GPS Car Cable (micro/mini USB pinout)

I have a 1450 and 2450 and both of them have lost the original car cables. I tried using a regular USB cable and external battery to power the units and they power up into USB Data mode. Even after powering up to the map, if applying USB power they switch to USB Data mode and cannot be used.

Does anyone know the secret recipe - perhaps there is a resistor or something else in the Garmin car cable? (they both plug in via a regular looking USB port)

OK, the Garmins are not broken and after adding resistor to my searches I discovered that there is a resistor between pins 4-5, 15 to 22k or something else depending on model...

I tried to delete the post, but it wasn't having it...

there are some usb cables who dont have the data pins wired, i have one cable like this to power up my garmin ... dont recall where i found it

Are you looking for special traffic features? I know the traffic radio for rerports is embedded in the power cable

No, I just wanted to use it for navigation - although I do have an older mount and cable for a Nuvi 765. That has a traffic receiver in the cable, but a proprietary plug (someone stole that GPS and left the cable lol). I may cut the end off and try to figure out the wiring.

The 2450 has a mount with a mini-USB plug, but it does nothing with the GPS. The internals of that look fine so I'm  It charges with the micro-USB on the unit though and I have been able to fool that one into booting up into nav mode on occasion, but it's finicky.
